William Edmonds "Bill"  Mahoney III
William Edmonds Mahoney III ‘Bill’, 79, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of the late P. Faith McMahon, former Mayor of Bloomfield and 15th District State Representative, passed away on Sunday, May 31; surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, on July 3, 1935; son of the late William Jr. and Helen (Mack) Mahoney. Bill was communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield and a lifelong resident of Bloomfield. Bill retired in 1981 as a Lieutenant on the Bloomfield Police Department after 22 years of service; and the Bloomfield Board of Education in 2008. He was a U.S. ARMY veteran and a three time past president of the Lions Club, receiving the Fellow Humanitarian International Award.
Bill is survived by his five children, Elizabeth of NH, William IV ‘Billy’ of Enfield, Andrew and his wife Carolyne of Suffield, Theresa of Granby, and Timmy of Windsor Locks; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Brian Mahoney and his wife Vivian of FL; one sister, Maura Keyes and her husband Chet of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary (Hurley) Mahoney.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 9, with A Mass of Christian at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends and family may call at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, on Monday, June 8, from 3-7PM.
