I was fortunate enough to have had the distinct pleasure of golfing with Jim. Bon mots and witticisms flew, sometimes as far as the golf balls.
Jim was a distinguished and most honorable gentleman and will always be remembered as such. We will all miss him!

Dear Ellen,

I am so sorry for your loss.I had the honor and joy to serve with Jim as a tour guide at the Capitol. Jim helped orient me as a new guide. He could read his audience and tailor the tour so they learned history and appreciated their surroundings. He studied Nathan Hale and brought him to life as no other guide. Thank you for sharing him with us. May he Rest In Peace and may you find comfort in your memories.

Ellen & Family, I was very saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I spent many a round of golf walking with Jim and it was always a pleasure. He was always one of the guys I was happy to see at the course. I used to think I played early, but would always be impressed to see Jim out there many holes ahead. I hadn't played with him this year, but just last week something on the course reminded me of him. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Ellen & Family, I was so saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I played many rounds of golf with Jim at Crestview and in the past few years here in Pawleys Island SC. He was my partner in the World Am and we were ready to give it another go this fall. I enjoyed his insight into the game he loved, and discussing his work with the USGA. The other side of Jim was his vast knowledge on so many topics. Not a surprise since he reigned as Jeopardy champion. He was so humble about that accomplishment but I loved getting him to give me all the details. When there was a trivia contest Jim was the go to guy.
Most of all Jim was a gentleman and stand up guy. Honesty and integrity are words not many people can have associated with their name. Jim Banks demonstrated both those qualities every day. Again please accept our deepest condolences and sympathy. MARK & DENA SHEA Pawleys Island SC

Ellen- Jim and I met 10 years ago while playing golf at Crestview. I can say that he was a man of utmost integrity, intellect, and sincerity. It was truly my honor to have him as friend and golf buddy. Jim will always be on my mind when I tee it up!!! My heartfelt condolences to you Ellen as well as to Jim’s brothers and sisters.
