Obituary for Stanley Charles Szoka

Stanley Charles Szoka, 93 lifelong resident of Suffield, beloved husband of the late Rowena (Samsel) Szoka, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. Born in West Suffield on April 6, 1927 son of the late Antoni K. and Antonia (Yuskiewicz) Szoka.

Stanley was a home and commercial builder, and retired as construction superintendent. He was a U.S. Naval Veteran serving during WWII and lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church. Stanley enjoyed fly-fishing, ice fishing, camping, playing in the green house and vegetable gardening.

He is survived by two daughters Debra S. Krut and Gail Szoka; two grandchildren Sally O’Sullivan and her husband Patrick, and Kevin Krut and his wife Michelle; and six great grandchildren, Trevor, Makayla, Shaughn, Rowena, Charles and Kayla; and sister-in-law: Ann (Samsel) Nai.

He was predeceased by five sisters: Sarah Skowronski, Alice Kreczko, Bernice Zukowski, and Sophie Krajewski, Helen Osowiecki, and by four brothers: Charles Szoka, Edward Szoka, Joseph Szoka and Anthony Szoka.

The Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 7, 2021 starting at 9:30am from the Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow with full military honors in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield. Friends may call at Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield on Thursday from 9:30-10:30.
