Obituary for Stanley J. Falkowski

Stanley Joseph Falkowski, 87, lifelong resident of West Suffield, and beloved husband of Barbara Falkowski passed peacefully on April 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in West Suffield on June 3, 1933 son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Pirsz) Falkowski, and graduated from Suffield Schools.

He made his home on the land he loved and worked—Cedar Brook Farms in West Suffield, where he lived his whole life. He expanded his family farm and was a well-respected Dairy Farmer.
On the urging of his wife he transformed his corn fields and pastures into one of the first Cross Country Ski areas in the region, operating it with his wife and family.

Stanley was humble when it came to his achievements and responsibilities. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. A member of The Polish American Club, serving on the Board of Directors. He was a Director of the Suffield Vo-Ag Board, appointed by Governor Ella Grasso to The State of CT Regulatory Milk Board. He was Secretary and Treasurer of The Bloomfield Farmers Exchange. He was a Fire Commissioner for the Suffield Fire Department. Stanley was the recipient of the Town’s generosity and kindness when his first dairy barn burned down on New Year’s Eve, 1967; only to have it rebuilt as the last barn razing by towns folks in 18 days. He will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, gentle demeanor and humility. His wife and family will miss him dearly and remember him always.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Barbara (Fraska) Falkowski, two daughters Jill F. Schechtman and her companion Michael Baker; Joy E. Burke and her companion Andrew Osgood; and son Matthew P. Falkowski; granddaughter Calli Schechtman; sister Frances Permatteo; and many nieces and nephews including Kerry Sego (Valencia, CA) who held a special place with her uncle. Stanley was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Falkowski; and three sisters, Helen Griffin, Bernice Falkowski, and Florence Brunton Gleba.

All funeral services will be private. For friends who wish to donate in Stanley’s honor: Suffield Community Aid, 450 South Street, Suffield, CT 06078.
