Obituary for Shirley Mae Rotondo (LaMountain )
Shirley Mae LaMountain Rotondo, of West Suffield, CT passed away in her sleep on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the age of 96. Born on June 25, 1926 in Springfield, MA. Shirley proudly served as a messenger at the Springfield Armory during World War II. She would beam with pride as she described her days of accompanying officials and visitors on the Armory property in support of our nation’s efforts during the war.
Shirley loved her gardening, knitting, sewing, craft-making and cooking. She loved adventuring on the Suffield Mini-Bus, and enjoyed supporting their fundraiser at the “Suffield on the Green” fair by donating her crafts and manning the booth. She was an avid reader and there wasn’t a single crossword puzzle or word game she couldn’t solve.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Benito Rotondo; sister Gladys Belcher; and Brother Frank LaMountain. She is survived by her son David Rotondo of West Suffield; two daughters, Darlene Packer of Utah, and Susan Rotondo of MA. She also leaves three grandchildren Scott, Melanie and Ian; as well as 7 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
All Services will be Private.
