Obituary for Richard Szczapa

Richard Szczapa, 73, lifelong resident of Suffield, beloved husband of Carol (Nyez) Szczapa, for 50 yrs. passed on January 26, 2021. Born on December 14, 1947 in Hartford, son of the late Walter and Helen (Matyskiela) Szczapa.
Besides his love of family, especially his grandsons, he owned and operated Suffield Package Store and Town School Bus.

He made the best maple syrup and farmed an array of veggies with a passion for the perfect tomato. He was a gear head, racing at CT Dragway in his early years, followed NASCAR and attended racing events at Riverside Park Speedway.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served for over 5 years as an Aviation Mechanic.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Nyez) Szczapa of Suffield, son Joseph and his wife Laura Szczapa of Suffield, and grandchildren Austin and Alexander.

The Graveside Service will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:30AM, in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to New England Air Museum (Memory of Rick Szczapa): 36 Perimeter Rd, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
