Obituary for Michael Anthony "Mickey" Phillips

Michael ‘Mickey’ Anthony Phillips, 88, of West Suffield, beloved husband of Norma (Chagnon) Phillips, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2016. Born on May 30, 1928, son of the late Henry and Gladys (Falkowski) Phillips, he was a lifelong resident of West Suffield.

Mickey was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong tobacco farmer and also worked in construction. Mickey thoroughly enjoyed working outside, he loved the outdoors and could always be found taking care of the land.

Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma (Chagnon) Phillips, two daughters Brenda Lally and her husband Ron of North Granby, and Sharon Horanzy and her husband Tom of West Suffield; four grandchildren Sage, Chad, Erin, and Kristin; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Stacia Zalewsky of Suffield, and Agnes Wosko of Granby and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver Deborah McCune of Enfield. He was predeceased by two sisters Helen Woishnis, Rose Modzelesky; and two brothers John and Stanley Phillips.

The Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 13 at 9AM from The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield; with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church 446 Mountain Road, Suffield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield with Military Honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7PM.
