Obituary for Maurice 'Dean' Caswell

Maurice Dean Caswell, 91, of Suffield passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family in March 31, 2021 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Burlington, Vermont in July of 1929, son of the late Henry Benson Caswell and Margaret Mae (McCormack) Caswell, graduated from Burlington High School and University of Vermont Class of 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed at Hamilton Standard for over 30 years before retiring in 1987.

Dean was an active member of First Church of Christ, Congregational, Suffield. Dean’s membership in the First Church of Christ Congregational in Suffield for the past 65 years, has enriched Dean’s life and that of the church. During these years he also served the community by volunteering at Community Aid doing Meals on Wheels 30+ years and medical transports, Hartford Habitat for Humanity week day saint, Suffield Jaycees, and Friends of Hilltop Farm.

He is survived by his son and four daughters, Susan and her husband James Quaglia of Manchester CT, Elizabeth and her husband Richard Cini of West Springfield, MA, Martha and her husband Arthur Jaffe of Rocky Hill, Diane Christian of Suffield; one son William and his wife Kristine (Kearns) Caswell of Baldwinsville NY; son-in-law John Williams of North Carolina; 14 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Virginia (Wilcox) Caswell and daughter Frances Williams.
