Obituary for Mary Carmalita Champagney (Feeney)
Mary Carmalita (Feeney) Champagney of East Village Place in East Longmeadow, MA passed away peacefully on March 7, 2019. Mary was born in Portland, Maine on July 6, 1923 the daughter of John and Bertha (Casey) Feeney.
Mary resided in Springfield, MA graduating from Springfield Technical School in 1941.
She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Champagney. They resided in West Suffield, CT for over fifty years.
Mary was happiest when surrounded by family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her son Chris Champagney and daughters Karen Champagney Cebula and June Champagney.
She leaves five grandchildren: John Cebula, Kerry Grunder, Jill Sommo, Colleen Ceplinski, and Melanie Derench and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Champagney,son John Champagney, and son Henry Champagney Jr.
For many years Mary enjoyed traveling to the Snoopy hockey tournaments sponsored by Charles Schultz in Santa Rosa, Ca to cheer on her husband’s team. She was also a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins.
We are grateful for the compassionate care provided for her by the staff at East Village Place, East Longmeadow, MA.
The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, March 16 at 11:00AM at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Calling hours will be held from 9:00-11:00AM prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery, Suffield.
