Obituary for Mary Birbeck (Rezendes)
Mary (Rezendes) Birbeck, 90, lifelong resident of West Suffield, passed on December 28, 2020. She was born on May 25, 1930 in Hartford, daughter of the late Manuel Rezendes Chaves and Eugenia (Fretes) R. Chaves, and graduated from Weaver High School, National Honors Society, Class of 1948.
She was employed with Cigna Insurance for many years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. With her free time she was an avid gardener and canned the veggies she grew throughout the summer. She also enjoyed antiquing and refinishing oak furniture, sewing, crossword puzzles, and taking walks through Sunrise Park.
Mary is survived by two sons Wesley Birbeck of West Suffield, and Clyde E. Birbeck, Jr. of Florida; and a grandson Wyatt Wesley Birbeck. She was predeceased by her sister Helen Boutin and former husband Clyde E. Birbeck.
The Funeral Services will be on Saturday, January 9, 2021 starting from The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield at 9:00am, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30am in Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, Rocky Hill.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00-10:00am. Mary had bright spirit and requested all attendants to dress in comfortable and bright clothing.
