John M. Bigley, 65, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Tanya Bigley passed away on September 12, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford on November 13, 1955, son of the late Mary and Edward Missell.
John was an employee of Okay Industries of New Britain for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds with his family and friends. He spent many years as a scout leader for the Troop 61 of the Boy Scouts of America. John was an outdoor enthusiast who loved fishing, camping, hiking, and spending time in nature. A long-time member of Bloomfield Congregational Church, John had a deep and strong connection to his faith. As an incredibly skilled billiards player, John played in tournaments throughout CT and the country, receiving numerous awards and trophies for his skills. A motorcycle enthusiast for his entire life, John participated in Sturgis, the 4-corners bike tour across North America, and spent many hours enjoying the “thrill of the ride”. John was passionate about music; a master guitar player who played in numerous bands and performed many gigs throughout his life. He would often express that music was “running through his veins”. He was always ready and willing to share his love of music with everyone. John was a dutiful husband, father and brother. He carried a deep love and dedication for his family, children, siblings and especially for his wife and companion, Tanya.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years Tanya Bigley of Simsbury; two sons Travis Bigley and his wife Annie of Manchester, Jesse Hennessey and his wife Ginni of Windsor; three daughters Melody Bigley of Bloomfield, Amber Novotney and her husband Daniel of East Granby, and Tobi Hennessey of Texas; five grandchildren Wynter, Raeme, Dylan, Darian and Tarra; five sisters Annmarie Langlois and her husband Roger, Kate Barger, Cyndie Clifford, Debbie Krawic, Sandra Soto; a brother Edward Missell and his wife Cheryl. He was predeceased by a brother Melvin G. Bigley IV; and sister Francine Budge.
A Celebration of Life service for John will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 6:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00pm prior to the service. Burial will be private.
