Obituary for Gordon W. Hamley

Gordon Wayne Hamley, 74, of East Otis, MA; beloved husband of Marcia Hamley, was called home by the Great Spirit on December 21, 2022.
Born on September 10, 1948 in Minot, North Dakota son of the late Bernard and Mary (Gillis) Hamley, Gordon was a U.S.
Army Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient.

Gordon finished college and entered into his dream job as a key member of the Salmon Restoration Project with the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Fishery Department. He was a passionate advocate of nature and the environment dedicating his life to making a positive impact in these areas. Gordon was a proud veteran and longtime member of the Windsor Locks VFW Post 6123. Gordon was also extremely proud of being a Sustaining Member of Free Speech TV.

Gordy was a compassionate, kind, gentle, patient and humble man. The oldest brother and patriarch of the Hamley family, "Hondo" was a jovial soul, the life of every party, lighting up the room with his quick wit, infectious smile and boisterous personality. All who knew him couldn't wait for the opportunity to share deep thought and laughter with him.

Gordon was easy to talk to and an excellent listener. There was no small talk with Gordo, he strived to discover the wonders of the universe and relished in the art of conversation. He challenged friends and family to do the same.

Gordon especially loved spending time with his beautiful wife, Marcia. Soul mates, they enjoyed vegetable gardening, nature walks with their dogs and living in the Berkshires. Most of all Gordon loved his family; his wife, his children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.
He was proud of each and every one of them.

A true original, a character in every sense of the word, Gordon will be dearly missed and forever celebrated.

He is survived by his wife Marcia (Shortz) Hamley, son Jason Hamley and wife Christine, daughter
Gianna Jablonowski and her husband Michael and daughter Jessica and her husband Tim Hebert;
nine grandchildren Isabella, Jadyn, Jase, Joshua, Jacob, Jonny, Liv, Tyler and Nathan;
two brothers Gregory John Hamley, Timothy Ray Hamley, and sister Bernadette Ann Graham.
He was predeceased by his brother Gary and grandson Corey.
