Obituary for Ferman John Wilson

Ferman John Wilson, 88, of Suffield, died peacefully at home on March 1, 2021. Born in Dallas, PA on August 16, 1932 to Ernest Oliver Wilson and Anna (Kudinski) Wilson, he was raised in Windsor Locks, CT. Ferman served in the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean War for 3 ½ years. He married Gloria Paganelli on July 2, 1955. He was a custom builder and then a remodeling contractor until his retirement. He was truly a man who could fix anything.

He spent his later years in Florida for 6 months where he was an active member of the community and leaves many friends, and Connecticut for 6 months each year. Ferman was a crossword and jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, and an avid shell collector. He enjoyed traveling, both around the globe to Hawaii, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand and across the U.S by van with his beloved wife. Ferman cherished memories of family biking vacations to Cape Cod every October.

He enjoyed spending lots of time at the Suffield home he built, gardening, mowing the lawn, and fixing things Gloria broke! He loved nothing more than ending the day in his beautiful backyard watching the birds and airplanes with a glass of wine in his hand with family and friends. Donating blood was very important to him and has donated over 28 gallons.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gloria Wilson; his three sons Donald Wilson and his wife Robin, Mark Wilson and his wife Debbie, Cort Wilson and his companion Deborah Dyer; his grandchildren Jennifer and Angelo Conti, Susan, and Mark Ghiloni, Christine and Liam Devlin, Ryan and Heather Wilson, Travis and Dr. Shannon Wilson; two great grandchildren Riley Wilson and Abigail Ghiloni; as well as lots of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Harris of Dallas, PA.

There will be no calling hours; a Celebration of his life will be held at a future date, in his backyard, as determined by his family. Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Road, Suffield has care of the arrangements. Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; OR Suffield Community Aid, 450 South Street, Suffield, CT 06078. Online condolences please visit: www.SuffieldFuneralHome.com
