Obituary for Eleanor Jane Chase (Rose)

Eleanor Jane (Rose) Chase, 80, lifelong resident of Suffield, beloved wife of Edward W. Chase III, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2021.
Born in Springfield, MA on December 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Curtis V. Rose, and the late Marguerite (Bates) Rose.

A graduate of Suffield High School, Class of 1958, she attended the University of Miami for two years, and eventually received her Associates Degree from Asnuntuck Community College.

Eleanor was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She was an active Girl Scout Leader for many years, and volunteered her time with many organizations, including Loaves and Fishes in Enfield CT. She loved to travel, take long walks, and watch the birds, especially from her kitchen window.

She is survived by her husband Edward W. Chase, III, of Suffield; daughter Robin (Chase) Murtha and her husband Michael Murtha of Guilford, CT; son Kevin Chase and his wife Sara (Cocola) Chase of Martinez, CA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Chase of New York City, Ryan Murtha and his wife Catherine (Caracciolo) Murtha of Berkeley, CA, Margaret (Chase) McQuilkin and her husband Austin McQuilkin of Baltimore, MD and Andrew Murtha of Guilford, CT; and brother Daniel Rose of Ransomville, NY. She was predeceased by a brother James Rose.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 6, at 10:00 AM at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield. Burial will follow in West Suffield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 5, from 4:00-6:00 PM.
