Obituary for Doris "Miki" Shea (McMurray)

Doris (Miki) Shea, 1926-2021, passed away at 95 years old. She was the only child born to the late Charles and Flora (Nichols) McMurray in Brooklyn NY. While working at ATT on Wall Street she met the love of her life, Charles Shea. They were married in 1946 and were one of the first couples to live in Levittown. They moved to Bethpage and Miki worked at Plainedge Public Schools and raised their two beloved children. Miki and Charles moved to Northport to enjoy retirement and spent many hours boating and fishing together. Miki loved browsing antique shops for items that she embellished with her magical tole painting and gifted to those she loved. In her later years, while living in Leisure Village she was a finalist in the Mrs. American Contest on Long Island and enjoyed modelling. Throughout her life Miki was never without her faithful dogs. Her love of dogs led her to rescue and love many dogs over the years.

GrandMiki is survived by her two children and their spouses, Susan (Shea) and Edward Mack of Suffield, CT and Jim and Martha Shea of Kings Park, NY and her 6 wonderful grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Miki’s family was most important to her and she always had trips and adventures planned or crafts and games at home, always with delicious snacks and of course root beer floats. She will be remembered and the memories cherished.

Miki will be buried with her love, Charles, at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to Bideawee Dog Rescue, 3300 Beltagh Ave. Wantagh, NY 11793.
