Donald William Wood, 86, of Manhattan, New York; passed peacefully on January 9, 2021. Born on December 26, 1934 in Woonsocket, RI son of the late Harry and Sylvia (Burlingame) Wood.
Donald graduated from Suffield High School and Syracuse University before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for 5 years. He moved to New York City in 1968 to begin his career as an architect. He was working for the New York Port Authority in the World Trade Center on 9-11 and decided to finally retire a year later while remaining in the city until his death.
He is survived by his brother Richard P. Wood, Sr., of Suffield; sister-in-law Patti Wood of Westfield; nephew Richard P. Wood, Jr. and his wife Shari of Suffield; two nieces Janet Heim and her husband Robert of Suffield, and Elizabeth Ortiz and her husband Joseph of Groveland, FL; three grandnieces Katelyn, Sadie, Emma; and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly Ed Lynn, Gere Williams, Conrad Schaub, Tino Zago, Alison Nowak and Bob Crane. He was predeceased by a brother Harry Wood; and sisters-in-law Janet (McAlister)Wood, and Linda (Zak) Wood.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
