Obituary for Alma Luginbuhl (Lanz )

Alma Lanz Luginbuhl, 94 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on November 18, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband Edward H. Luginbuhl, to whom she was married for 64 years. A woman of great faith and strength, Alma looked forward to being called home to be with her Lord, and to being reunited with Ed, who she has missed so dearly since his death in 2014.

Alma was born to Paul and Bertha (Gerber) Lanz on February 22, 1928 and lived in Ellington for most of her life. Alma and Ed owned and operated Nutmeg Dairy and it was there that they raised their eight children. We are so grateful that Alma was able to remain at home with her son Leslie and his wife Lisa, who, along with her very special caregiver, Rose McMann, took loving and compassionate care of her every day.

Alma was a one in a million wife, mother, mother-in law, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She was living proof that good things come in small packages. She shared her gift of humor and laughter freely with anyone who had the good fortune to spend time with her. She treated everyone she knew as her favorite. She loved being with her family and friends, and enjoyed entertaining, spending time at the Luginbuhl Family Pond, traveling, knitting and doll making. She was a longtime member of the Apostolic Christian Church.

Alma is survived by her children, Dale (Kathy), John, Phillip (Nancy), Scott (JoAnn), Sandra Hany (Brian), Mark (Robin), Leslie (Lisa) and Sherry Skinner (Everett). She also survived by 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild, all of whom will miss their “Little Meme”.

Also left to mourn her loss are her sister, Florence Kloter and brother Richard Lanz (Amber), sisters-in-law Nancy Lanz, Evelyn Luginbuhl, Adele Trueb, and Elizabeth Luginbuhl, as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her husband, Alma was predeceased by her siblings Aline Luginbuhl (Alma’s twin sister), Eloise Webb, Leona DeCarli, Delphine Starkes, Charlotte Luginbuhl Limberger, Howard Lanz and Elmer Lanz. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Warren Andrew Skinner.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Apostolic Christian Church. Her funeral will take place at the Apostolic Christian Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 10:30. Burial will follow Ellington Center Cemetery.

Heritage Funeral Home, has care of the arrangements.
