Obituary for William Russell "Bill" Norcross

William R. Norcross, died peacefully September 29, 2011 at Meadow Brook of Granby with his loving family by his side, after a valiant struggle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. He was born October 12, 1932 son of the late Atwood R. and Priscilla (DeCou) Norcross in Mount Holly, NJ. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. After serving with the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was employed by Combustion Engineering for 25 years retiring in 1985. He was a partner of BesTec in Suffield, CT and later, a partner of Allyn Wadhams Co. of Farmington, CT. He was Deacon Emeritus and served in many capacities as a faithful servant to the First Church of Christ Congregational of Suffield for over 45 years. Besides his loving wife, Shirley of 51 years, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Cindy Norcross of Ridgefield, CT. And daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Christopher Malagari of Middletown, MD, five grandchildren, Rachel, Nicholas, Katie, Collin, and Charlotte, His sister Jean Barrineau of Naples, FL. He was predeceased by a son Gregory Norcross in 1988. His interests included golfing, photography, sailing, and until just recently was devoted to the restoration of Babb’s Roller Rink on Lake Congamond. His most favorite times were traveling and spending time with his family and friends on “The Lake”. There are no calling hours. Private graveside service with military honors will be held at the West Suffield Cemetery. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be October 8, 2011 at 11 AM, at First Church of Christ Congregational, 81 High Street, Suffield.
