Obituary for Edward A. Kelly

Edward A Kelly, 84, of West Harwich, MA and Naples, FL and formerly of Wethersfield, died on Sunday, January 31,2016, in Naples. With him were his wife of sixty years, the former Elizabeth Ann Tracy of Hartford and members of their family.

Son of the late Edward A. Kelly, Sr. and Mary McGinnis of Suffield, Edward was born in Hampton, VA on September 13, 1931. He attended public schools and Loyola High School in Baltimore, MD and graduated from Suffield High School in 1949 as president of his class.

At the University of Hartford he graduated with an MEng and later acquired two patents on industrial sewing machines with Merrow Machine of Hartford. Commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA Edward served in Korea in 1953-54.

Surviving children are daughter Tracy Kelly Ambruso and her 
husband John of Wethersfield; daughter Tara of Ft. Myers, FL; sons Matthew Edward of Washington, D.C; and Stephen P. Kelly of Dedham, MA and his children, Nicholas and Alexa.

Also surviving are Edward’s sister, Mary Anne Kelly Zak of Suffield; and brothers George A. Kelly of West Springfield, MA and Fort Lauderdale, FL; Patrick J. Kelly of Springfield, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 8, at 9 AM from The Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial at Scared Heart Church, Suffield at 10 AM. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery, 420 Kings Highway, West Springfield, MA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, February 7 from 2-4 PM.
